Artist's Description

This is a recreation of the Portland Head Light, the oldest lighthouse in the state of Maine and one of the oldest in America. Construction was completed in 1791, under the direction of George Washington. I wanted it to look like a storm had just passed, with the light of the sun reflected from the west and the waters being calm and quiet. When they began construction in 1787, Maine was actually still a part of the state of Massachusetts.
