Description
I wanted to depict a scene from the Navajo Nation in New Mexico. It is early morning, with the sun breaking over the mountains and warming up the desert. Navajo traders have gathered at a small trading post to sell their wares and begin the day. A lone wagon rides up a dusty path in the background, coming to visit the small, trading post. I was inspired to include the old woman out front because I remembered a similar woman selling her pottery in Arizona. I purchased some one of her clay bells at a trading post near the Grand Canyon. I still treasure it to this day, thirty years later.
